Top FAQs

How do we determine athlete funding amounts?

Expenses typically vary based on sport, level of sport, and location. To combat this variance, we assess the funding needs for our athletes on a case-by-case basis in partnership with the athlete’s club or school. However, the average funding amount for an EverybodyPlays athlete is about $500 per season.

How many hours must athletes volunteer?

Giving back to one’s community is a core element of program participation. Our athletes will be required to volunteer at a partner charity for a dedication number of hours per month or season, depending on the funding cadence. However, the average required number of hours is about three hours per month.

Is EverybodyPlays a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization?

Yes. EverybodyPlays is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization under definition of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations to EverybodyPlays are therefore tax-deductible, meaning that you are eligible for deduction on the donated amount when you file your annual taxes.

What is the process for starting a new chapter?

We have an ambitious goal: A goal to be global. If you want to direct your own EverybodyPlays chapter, please let us know by filling out an interest form. Once submitted, the next step will be to conduct a discovery session to learn more about you as well as share more about our mission and story.

As an athlete, where am I allowed to volunteer?

As a part of our program, it is important that an athlete volunteers at one of our local partner charities in their community. We have selected partners based on shared missions and values, and prefer that our athletes also gain empathy around and exposure to the causes that we care most about.

Am I able to volunteer for EverybodyPlays?

We are a growing organization and can use all the help willing to be given. Whether supporting our expansion plans, aiding fundraising initiatives, or buttressing our operations, we can use your help. If you’d like to contribute some of your time to our charity, please reach out to us using our Contact Us page.

 Additional FAQs

  • A Sponsor is a unique way to get involved with our organization by effectively taking care, to a defined extent, of an EverybodyPlays athlete that we match you with, which we call sponsoring them. As a sponsor, you elect to fulfill a certain level of involvement with an athlete. The options for involvement are to provide recurring funding and/or mentorship for the athlete. Recurring funding is a recurring donation equal to an amount you are comfortable with; meanwhile, mentorship is a role you play in their lives to help guide them towards their aspirations and goals.

  • When you make a donation to our cause, you will be sent a receipt of donation that you will have for record keeping and can use to file along with your annual taxes. If you have any questions, please be sure to reach out using our Contact Us page.

  • As a Sponsor, you can recurrently provide funding for a specific athlete. A common application of this program is to formally provide funding for the costs and expenses of a sport for a grandchild or niece/nephew. If sponsoring kin, the funding provided will go through our systems and be recognized as a donation but will be allocated to your specified athlete.

  • To get started, please fill out our Sponsor Form here. You will provide information such as the level of involvement you wish to contribute and the sport you prefer your athlete to play. Once submitted, we’ll use this information to match you with our available athletes.

  • Life happens, and your capacity for contributing to different initiatives changes. If you cannot maintain recurrent funding or cannot continue donating your time as a mentor to an athlete, please let us know immediately. We will do our best to ensure that the athlete continues to receive the support they need to accomplish their goals.
